Yes. The Iowa Law Enforcement Academy conducts minimum hiring requirement testing monthly, on the 1st & 3rd Tuesday. ILEA also offers evaluations for sworn peace officers and Reserve officers.
ISSDA promotional testing may be coordinated via ILEA, as well.

The Iowa Law Enforcement Academy asks that you fill out a change-in-status form for all employees who have legal name changes. Legal name changes can include marriage and divorce. To do this, go to the Forms page. Then select the category of employee you need to report the name change for.

Yes, they can, as long as all of the minimum standards and tests are successfully passed prior to hire.
No. Officers have one year from their date of hire to become certified. This means completing an approved path to certification . An officer who fails to meet this deadline must cease working. Liability implications in placing untrained officers on duty should be very carefully considered.
The minimum standards for Iowa officers does not include Lasik surgery. Each hiring authority has discretion over hiring. Agencies must certify to ILEA that all hiring standards are met. The Academy recommends consultation with eye doctors.
