Public Safety Telecommunicators

The Iowa Law Enforcement Academy was given the responsibility for providing training to telecommunicator specialists in the state during the 1996 legislative session.  In 2020 telecommunicators/911 dispatchers were defined as public safety telecommunicators and recognized for their role as first responders.

ILEA offers Public Safety Telecommunicators:

• Basic 40-hour Schools

• Specialty Schools

The following dates and locations are scheduled for 2024:

January 15 – 19: ILEA
March 11 – 15: Pottawattamie County
May 13 -17: Cedar Falls at Iowa State Patrol District 9
July 15 – 19: ILEA
September 9 – 13: Buena Vista County
November 18 – 22: Indian Hills Community College
